chandler mcwilliams, programmer/artist
Chandler B. McWilliams is a artist, programmer, and writer. He has studied film, photography, and political science; and completed graduate work in philosophy at The New School For Social Research in New York City. While in graduate school he returned to programming—an art he learned in his youth–which had a profound impact, opening up new avenues of theoretical and artistic exploration. McWilliams is the co-author of Form + Code in Design, Art, and Architecture (Princeton Architectural Press, 2010). He has taught at the School of Visual Arts, The Cooper Union, and most recently in the Design Media Arts program at UCLA. Philosophy plays a strong role in his work which focuses on themes of becoming, repetition, chance, time, behavior, play, and epistemology.
